How to apply the 1,000 foreign jobs announced by CS Alfred Mutua

In a step to tackle unemployment and provide Kenyans with global opportunities, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced the rollout of a foreign job recruitment drive in Nakuru County, slated for Monday, November 25, 2024. The event, hosted at the Rift Valley National Polytechnic, promises over 1,000 job placements in countries such as Australia, Qatar, Poland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Germany.

This initiative is part of President William Ruto’s ambitious agenda to curb unemployment through labor export. Mutua revealed that successful candidates could begin earning overseas incomes as early as December, emphasizing the immediate impact of the program on Kenyan livelihoods.

Rift Valley Drive Kicks Off After Success in Eastern Kenya

The Rift Valley leg of the caravan follows highly successful drives in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties. Subsequent sessions will be held at:

  • Baringo National Polytechnic on Tuesday, November 26, 2024

  • Nyandarua National Polytechnic on Wednesday, November 27, 2024

Applicants are required to bring their national ID cards, academic certificates, updated CVs, and passports. Those without passports will be facilitated to obtain them upon successful application.

Why It Matters

This recruitment exercise represents a pivotal moment for Nakuru County, where unemployment rates have remained a significant concern. With the promise of immediate hiring and government support, the program provides a tangible solution to economic challenges while exposing Kenyans to diverse global work experiences.

A Nationwide Movement

Mutua confirmed that the drive, eventually reaching all 47 counties, has already made strides in Nairobi, where over 3,200 applicants have secured international roles. “This is not just a recruitment drive; it’s a lifeline. For some, it means starting a new chapter abroad before Christmas,” he said.

The initiative has drawn praise from local leaders and citizens alike, underscoring the government's commitment to fulfilling campaign pledges and creating pathways for prosperity.

Looking Ahead

As the program expands, its success will be closely monitored as a measure of Kenya’s readiness to integrate labor export as a core economic strategy. Nakuru residents are urged to seize the opportunity and take advantage of this potentially life-changing initiative.
